About ME

My name is Kellye - yes with an "E" at the end. You'll have to ask my mom why...I'm married to Jon, and we have three kids - Gracie, Caroline and Anna Kate. Those 4 are my whole world. We have two dogs. Jonas is a female mutt that looks mostly like a chocolate lab - yes we gave her a boys name and yes she is named after the Jonas Brothers band. Stella is a Morkie. They are best buds and in the words of Caroline they are responsible for her biggest childhood memory of her home so far - fur on the floor. This was written in a poem at school for the world to read.

I am a child of the 70s but just barely. I grew up in the 80s loving Smurfs and Care Bears with a daily dose of Masters of the Universe as a result of having an older brother. I think this probably helped shape me into the person I am today - having an older brother, not watching TV.

I am the middle child, so I suffer from living in the limelight for a few years until my brother was born...I was 9 and it was life altering.  I knew I was old enough to care for him with no help from my mom. Because of this I am reminded often of my words to my grandmother when changing a diaper - "I know what I"m doing!" I still think I need to take care of him sometimes.

I married my high school sweetheart, Josh, and we lived happily for 8 years. During this time, Gracie and Caroline were born. Josh was taken in a tragic event in 2006. It was probably the hardest time I have had in my life so far. God gave me peace and grace to go on living and parenting the two little blessings Josh left behind for me.

A little over two years later, I married the second love of my life, Jon. We are in our third year of marriage, and our third daughter, Anna Kate, was recently born. My blog is named Better Days because of the song titled "Better Days" by the GooGoo Dolls. I walked down the aisle at our wedding to it. It just seemed like the perfect song for my situation...We are living in better days now.

When I started blogging, I used my blog as a sort of online scrapbook for my kids. Now, three years later, I see it as more of a journal. I love that I can share these parts of my life with friends and family
